General Questions
What is Soleyne?
Soleyne is an online artist gallery. The purpose of the site is to bring together artists and art lovers, to showcase artists and their work, and to assist artists in reaching a patron base from all over the world. Soleyne is clearly better able to accomplish this in a way that no brick and mortar gallery or individual web site possibly can.
How is Soleyne different that any other art site?
Soleyne is designed to mimic a fine art/high craft brick and mortar gallery, but with a much expanded selection and the convenience of online transactions. Soleyne Gallery online also differs in that we maintain stringent standards regarding artwork that is allowed to be posted on our site. We want the best of the best in both the artwork and artists we represent. Consequently, Soleyne is an invitation-only site for artists. Your work is first reveiwed and then an invitation to join is issued. We then ask that you set up a “store” on our site containing your best artwork in the genre and medium we have expressed an interest in representing on Soleyne. Your “store” in then promptly reviewed and posted to the site.
I can’t get back to the homepage, help!
Click on the Soleyne logo at any time to return to the Homepage.
As an artist, how can I show and sell my work on Soleyne?
Soleyne is now an “invitation only” site for artists. If you take the moment to read our “ARTIST GUIDELINES” you will understand our new approach. If you are an interested artist and you have found us, but we have not yet found you, you may request an invitation to join by sending your contact information and a web address where you work can be reviewed to: josh@soleyne.com. We will review your work and render our decision in a timely manner.
What browser is best to use with Soleyne.com?
Soleyne.com uses the latest web technology to bring you a superior user experience and you should ensure that you are using the latest versions of the popular web browsers. Firefox 3, Safari 3, and Internet Explorer 7 have all been tested and work correctly with soleyne.com. We have had reports of Internet Explorer 6 having issues with Soleyne.com and is NOT a recommended browser. Before contacting support, please upgrade your browser and try again.

Mozilla Firefox is the recommended browser as it is incredibly fast and stable. You can download Firefox here: http://firefox.com.

What are tags? How do I use them properly?
Tags are keywords that help make your items searchable. Tags should be separated by a comma, and a single tag can be comprised of multiple words, e.g. precious metal. Tag your item with words that might be useful when searching for an item like yours. Make the tags short and concise, this will increase your chances of being found in a search.
How do I shop on Soleyne?
Search for art by browsing the gallery, or by typing keywords into the search field at the top of the website. You can also browse by artist to see only that particular artist’s work. Items that are for sale will have a green “$” icon, and items for auction will have an orange “hammer” icon.
What is commenting?
By leaving and receiving comments, you can get a true sense of how the artist community feels about your artwork. If you especially like someone else?s art, why not let them know? Additionally, this is designed such that there can be open communication between the artist and the patron. Patrons can request additional information on a specific piece or its’ availability using this function.
How do I remove a comment someone left me or a comment I left for someone else?
Soleyne is intended to be an open community of artists and art lovers and we expect critiques and comments within the gallery. However, some users may leave questionable comments…so, once you are logged in, you can edit or delete any comments left for you by other artists or patrons. You can also edit or remove any comment you have left for someone else.
What is a Discovery? What does “Discover!t” mean?

Selling on Soleyne
How do I sell on Soleyne?
Selling on Soleyne is very easy. Once you upload your artwork, just select “Sell this item” or “Auction this item” from the blue action menu (“I want to…” menu). You will then be brought to the edit artwork screen that will allow you to enter in your sale price, shipping costs, and insurance.
In order to build public confidence in purchasing from Soleyne online, Artists selling on Soleyne are required to adopt our Soleyne Gallery Site-Wide Return/Shipping Damage Policy Please reveiw this police before setting up your store so you may incorporate it into your stated policy to your customers.
How much does it cost to sell on Soleyne.com?
Soleyne does not charge listing fees to artists who list items for sale or for auction. Like a traditional gallery, Soleyne charges a commission based on your sale price. Currently that commission rate is based on a sliding scale system based on the value of the piece at sale or auction. Soleyne collects these commissions and will process your card at the end of each month. The charge will appear in your credit card statement as “Soleyne, Inc.” Current fees are explained in the “ARTIST GUIDELINES” .
How do I get paid?
With Soleyne you can accept payment two ways: PayPal or Check/Money Order. To accept PayPal, you will need to have a PayPal account set up already. Once you have set up your account, log into your Soleyne account, click on “Account Settings” and then on “PayPal Email Address” and just follow the onscreen directions.
Can I relist an item that doesn’t sell?
Yes you can. If your auction ends with no bids, or a patron defaults on a sale, just choose “relist this item” from the blue action menu. Then just follow the onscreen directions.
